What the readers say
Patricia's thoughts on The Hills of Home
What inspired you to write this book?
The location. I regularly drove along the road across the moor in Teesdale and it is pretty spectacular.
To what extent did you plan the plot in advance?
Very little. I rarely plot in detail. I have a nugget of an idea and work with that, putting my main female character on the first page and seeing where it leads.
Which character in this book did you enjoy writing the most?
Often it can be a minor character and I did enjoy Kate even though she was awful in some ways, toying with Ben for all the wrong reasons. Characters with flaws can be very interesting.
What was the hardest thing in this book to write?
The background to Linda’s problems, making it sound reasonable, making her motives real whilst trying to hold onto the reader’s sympathy for her predicament.
